Renewable Connections is a development business. We focus primarily on the development of solar and storage projects in the United Kingdom.
Through Renewable Connections’ relationships with experienced and responsible partners, we are able to provide a full service package at all stages of a renewable energy project’s life.

SOLAR
The UK’s energy system is changing rapidly. In recent decades the country has relied on a small number of very large generation plants, powered by nuclear, coal and gas. This is changing, with recent years seeing a massive investment in renewables. There are now tens of thousands of small generating plants across the UK, from small roof-top solar systems, to large offshore windfarms.
We believe that this trend will continue, with continued investment in large-scale renewable energy generation, and particularly solar and wind. Due to significant reductions in the cost of equipment, coupled with technological improvements, renewable energy is now able to compete with conventional sources of power generation, without the need for subsidy. With this tipping point having been reached, we are beginning to see a future where renewable energy provides 100% of the UK’s energy needs, powering its industry, its homes, and its cars.
BATTERY STORAGE
Renewable energy is now cost competitive with conventional sources of energy, and is able to step-up in terms of reliability due to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
BESS can be charged by electricity generated from from renewable energy, such as wind and solar power. BESS use intelligent software to co-ordinate energy production and to decide when to store or release energy to the national grid to meet peak demand. This improves the stability of the grid network and allows stored renewable energy to be used even when the conditions for generation are not being met. The systems are able to respond to changes in the grid quickly, making it possible for cheap renewable energy to be used during times when it wouldn’t normally be possible.
Recent years have seen significant falls in the cost of large-scale batteries and improvements in design and safety.
At Renewable Connections, where suitable, we develop storage projects to compliment our solar projects.
HYDROGEN
Renewable Connections has successfully led on the planning and development aspects of HyGen Energy Holdings Limited projects. HyGen build, own and operate commercial scale hydrogen production facilities across the UK and Ireland.
It is anticipated that the first hydrogen production facilities will be operational within the next couple of years, securing HyGen’s ambition of becoming one of the UK’s leading providers of low carbon hydrogen.
