Renewable Connections is a wholly owned subsidiary of Armstrong Capital Management Limited.
Armstrong Capital Management Limited have a joint venture with one of Europe’s largest renewable energy developers, European Energy A/S, based in Denmark. Renewable Connections has been
established as Armstrong’s project delivery arm under this joint venture and is responsible for originating and developing up to 500MW of solar projects in the UK, year on year.

PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are looking for a Development Manager to manage the development of ground mount solar and storage projects in the UK. This involves taking sites that have grid connections and in principle land agreements, through to fully consented projects and on to RTB status for the delivery team. The Development Manager will be expected to take ownership and lead on all technical, commercial and consenting aspects involved with each project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting directly to the Senior Development Manager and working closely with the wider development and origination team, including the Development Director.
  • Take responsibility for projects from ‘validation’ (meets key project criteria) all the way through to project financial close and handover to the delivery team.
  • Managing projects through each critical development phase including;
    • obtaining planning approvals
    • securing legal and commercial agreements
    • managing technical on and off-site designs
    • managing electrical grid connections as well as other utilities
    • obtaining relevant environmental permits
    • managing consultants, suppliers and partners
    • anticipating and mitigating development risk
    • budgetary and development program responsibility
    • other related development requirements

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the team on wider development challenges and opportunities
  • Work closely with our development partners Armstrong Capital and European Energy A/S

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

An ideal candidate will have/be:

  • A driven and creative problem-solver.
  • Development experience, ideally of energy projects or similar.
  • A track record in consenting and managing numerous projects simultaneously.
  • A solid understanding of the energy development processes in England, Wales and Scotland.
  • A working knowledge of project budgets and land agreements.
  • Experience of and participation in community and stakeholder engagement.
  • An exceptional communicator and well organised.
